PORTABLE AIS 10KM

RRP NZ $299

Discover the pinnacle of AIS transmitter technology with our rechargeable, portable, waterproof device offering an impressive 10-14 days of battery life.

Designed for safety-conscious boaters, this AIS transmitter ensures your vessel is visible to other boats and on online AIS platforms like www.marinetraffic.com.

Plus, its reliance on a long-lasting battery means it's not dependent on your boat's electrical system, enhancing safety. The portability of this device also allows you to take it with you in case of an emergency.

It's originally designed to safeguard and keep track of fishing nets. However, it's most commonly sold around the world as a simple Class B AIS and Ideal for yachts, cruisers, powerboats, and even canoes, this AIS transmitter is your essential marine companion. We do not recommend attaching to fishing nets in New Zealand as it may not be legal.

Please note that this AIS device is intended solely for use on watercraft.

You have the flexibility to select the transmission interval, ranging from 30 seconds to 10 minutes. For sail or motor yachts, we recommend a 2-minute interval, while speedboats may benefit from a 1-minute interval.

You'll need a MMSI number and VHF Call Sign. Obtaining is a breeze and can be done through www.boatingeducation.org.nz

Before we send out, you will need to advise us your VHF call sign (ZMxxxxx), name of boat (or name), MMSI number and preferred AIS transmit interval time and vessel type number (sailing vessel is 36, motor boat 37).

Rest assured, we will pre-program and thoroughly test your device before it's sent to you.

A call sign is a unique identifier for your vessel.  In New Zealand call signs begin with the letters ZM followed by another letter and four numbers.  Call signs can be obtained by visiting www.boatingeducation.org.nz and following the call signs tab. (You'll need a Call Sign to get a MMSI number)

Get an MMSI number

MMSI stands for Maritime Mobile Service Identifier.  An MMSI is issued by Radio Spectrum Management and is permanently attached to a callsign. They must not be separated.

If you already have a VHF Call Sign, then simply update your record and tick the box at the bottom of the page requesting a MMSI number.

Otherwise, visit www.boatingeducation.org.nz to get a VHF Call Sign and simply tick the box for MMSI number.
